Jacob Beam Friday Update - Jan 24 2025
Dear Parents/Guardians:
This has been a cold week at Jacob Beam! A reminder that students will be going outside for recess unless the temperature is at minus twenty degrees celsius (with windchill). When the weather is colder, we sometimes reduce the amount of outdoor time, or keep students in altogether. Please make sure that your child comes to school with a warm coat, hat, mitts and boots. If you need support to purchase these items, please contact Mrs. Di Roma directly and we can help.

Immunization Record Review in Progress
This message is being sent to all parents and legal guardians in elementary and secondary schools in Niagara on behalf of Niagara Region Public Health (NRPH).
With the postal strike over, Public Health is now able to resume the annual review of student immunization records:
● This means that if Public Health has incomplete vaccination information on file
for your child, you will be receiving an immunization reminder notice from NRPH
● Parents and legal guardians that have a valid school (not child care) or medical
exemption for their child on file with Public Health will not be contacted by NRPH
about the vaccine(s) their child is exempt from.
Parents and guardians are responsible for reporting immunization updates directly to Public Health. Health care providers don’t do this for you. If your child has received vaccine(s) that you haven’t reported to Public Health, please do so as soon as you are able. Immunization Connect (ICON), is a secure online system for tracking and reporting immunizations.
If your child needs vaccinations, find out where to get vaccinated. Report vaccine(s) received using Immunization Connect (ICON).
For more information, visit https://niagararegion.ca/health/vaccinations/default.aspx or call
905-688-8248 or 1-888-505-6074 ext. 7425 Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. to speak with a vaccine nurse.
Halt The Haze Parent and Guardian Webinar
The Lung Health Foundation, in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Education, is offering a valuable opportunity for parents and caregivers: a free online webinar titled "Building a Vape-Free 2025" on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 7:30–8:30 PM. Community members can click here to learn more about the program and register for the event.
This webinar will help parents and caregivers understand the dangers of vaping and how to support teens in starting their quit journey. Scheduled midway through the school year, it will address the role of stress in vaping decisions and provide tools for judgment-free, empowering conversations.
